Biografía:

Rudolf von Bitter Rucker, más conocido como (Rudy Rucker) nació el 22 de marzo de 1946 en Louisville, Kentucky (EE.UU.).

Estudió en el instituto de St. Xavier, se tituló en matemáticas por el Swarthmore College y obtuvo un máster y un doctorado en matemáticas por la Universidad de Rutgers.

En 1967 se casó con su novia del colegio Sylvia, con quien tuvo tres hijos: Georgia, Rudy, Jr., e Isabel.

Desde 1972 hasta 2004 dió clases en centros como la Universidad de Nueva York, la de Heidelberg, el colegio femenino Randolph-Macon o la Universidad estatal de San José.

A lo largo de este periodo de enseñanza tuvo un paréntesis de cuatro años, entre 1982 y 1986, en el que se dedicó por completo a la escritura.

Obra:

Como matemático con un serio interés en la filosofía ha escrito acerca de Geometría, Relatividad y la cuarta dimensión o el infinito.

Dentro de la ciencia ficción escribe lo que él denomina "transrealismo", una alternativa al ciberpunk. Según su propio manifiesto es una forma de ciencia ficción basada en la vida y percepciones del autor.

Rucker usa también sus novelas para explorar las matemáticas. Por ejemplo, White Light examina los conceptos del cero y del infinito.
